Beyond the Chair: Cheers to Our Beauty Life Savers

Have you ever sat in your hairstylist’s chair, leaned back into the bowl, and suddenly found yourself in a full-on therapy session? Not the kind with a couch and a co-pay—but one filled with laughter, soul talk, affirmation, and grace. That sacred space where your beauty is enhanced but your spirit is revived.

Let me preface this by saying: nothing replaces the power of a licensed therapist. But there’s something beautifully sacred about the chair, the table, the suite—where women (and men) like our hairstylists, nail techs, estheticians, and even chiropractors offer something deeper than service. They give us presence. They make us feel seen. And sometimes, in just an hour or two, they remind us who we are again.

Living in Dallas—and even before, back home in Alabama—I’ve been blessed to sit in the chairs of beauty professionals like Tiffany, Charleeta, and so many others whose artistry was matched only by their authenticity. Their spaces became more than salons; they were our sanctuaries. Places to connect and catch up, to laugh and release, to feel poured into and revived. You leave looking and feeling like the best version of yourself.

And recently, I experienced that again—this time in Erika’s chair, the powerhouse behind Demy Lux.

From the moment I sat down, Erika didn’t just style my hair—she poured into my soul. The conversation was real, intentional, uplifting… and left me feeling like I had just spent time with a long-lost best friend. You know that rare energy when someone truly gets you? That was it.

Her words stayed with me, but more than that, she left me with a beautiful way to approach the new year ahead. A reminder to show up authentically. To take care of my crown inside and out. And to keep elevating in joy, purpose, and softness.

“A great stylist isn’t just someone who styles your hair—they help you straighten your crown.”

If you’ve ever had a beauty life saver—someone who felt like a friend from the very first appointment—you know what a blessing that is. These artists don’t just help you look your best… they help you feel your best. They speak life. They make space. They remind you of your radiance.

So today, I raise a toast:

✨ To the ones who understand that beauty is deeper than appearance.
✨ To the ones who match curls with care, trims with truth, and silk presses with soul work.
✨ To the ones who show up fully and help us bloom from the inside out.

Cheers to the stylists, estheticians, nail artists, and therapists-of-the-chair who save our beauty and our sanity. You are more than service providers—you are soul nurturers.

May we keep celebrating the power of connection, the magic of authenticity, and the sacred spaces where beauty and sisterhood collide.

With love,
Breezy

Sunday Brunch & Sisterhood Is Good for the Soul

When’s the last time you sat down with your girls for brunch — like really sat down?
Mimosas with French toast. Avocado toast with champagne. An espresso martini with the breakfast special. Whatever your drink or dish of choice, there’s one thing that turns a good brunch into a soul-resetting ritual: sisterhood.

There’s something sacred about having a place to just be — to laugh, cry, be messy, celebrate, vent, or simply feel understood.
It’s not about the table settings. It’s about the table you get to sit at with women who see you.

Brunch Is My Soul’s Reset Button

I love my future husband. He’s the first person I turn to with my joys, my worries, and my everyday moments.
But there’s something deeply healing about time with my girlfriends.
Women who just get it. Who know your heart, your humor, your history — even if your lives look totally different now.

I’ve been blessed with friendships that span over 30 years and across all seasons of my life.
From childhood friends to coworkers-turned-sisters and new women I’ve met in Dallas — I’ve come to realize that girlfriend time is essential to my emotional health.

Making the Time — Even When It’s Hard

When I moved to Dallas, I knew the hardest part would be building a girl squad from scratch.
Then life piled on:

  • A new relationship

  • A move 40 minutes north of the city

  • Kids’ schedules, work, wedding planning… life life-ing

Friendship started falling to the wayside.
So when one of my best girls from college — now living over an hour away in Arlington — called to meet for brunch, I knew I had to make the time.

Because alignment is rare, and when you get the chance to sit with someone who knows your soul, you take it.

Real Talk, Real Friendship

We laughed. We caught up on my engagement, wedding plans, our fertility journeys, our men, our goals. We talked about what fills us up, the new habits we’re trying, the light we’re learning to walk in.

It was refreshing. Soul-nourishing.
The kind of girl talk that reminds you: you’re not alone.

And like all good brunches — it wasn’t long enough.

I Might Be the Issa of the Group...

Sometimes I feel like the Issa Rae of the crew — the friend who disappears for weeks, drops a random meme in the group chat with no explanation, and then pops back up like: “Y’all good?”

But if you need me? I’m there.
If you call, I’ll pick up.
I’m praying for you — even if I don’t always say it.

Because friendship isn’t about performance.
It’s about presence.
It’s about knowing that even when time passes, the connection never fades.

Final Thoughts

Brunch isn’t just brunch when it’s with women who see you, hear you, and hold space for your story. It’s a ritual. A reset. A reminder that even in busy seasons, you deserve to be poured into, too.

So here’s your gentle nudge:
📍Text your girl.
📍Make the reservation.
📍Have the mimosa and the hard conversation.

Because sisterhood is soul care.
And Sunday brunch with a real one? That’s medicine.
